Chapter 34
Bloodbath
As they stood at the edge of the plane, Jodie checked her weapon - a powerful RPG. She glanced over at Lieutenant Jane, their eyes meeting for a brief moment before they both nodded, their silent way of reassuring each other. The green light flashed, and they jumped.
Their parachutes opened, and immediately the enemy troops on the island below spotted them. Bullets whizzed past them as they descended towards the military island. Jodie could see their team being picked off one by one before they even landed. Bullets started flying towards them and Jodie could see her comrades falling to the ground, their bodies riddled with bullets. The situation was dire and brutal. Jodie clenched her jaw, gripping her RPG tighter as she prepared for the inevitable bloodbath.
As they landed on the island, Jodie and Lieutenant Jane immediately started engaging the enemy. They moved swiftly, their communication seamless. They both knew what the other was thinking without exchanging a single word. They had been together long enough to have developed a strong bond of trust and understanding.
But the enemy was fierce, and they were outnumbered. Jodie felt a sharp pain in her side as she was grazed by a bullet. She gritted her teeth and continued fighting, her mind solely focused on taking out as many of the enemy as possible and completing the mission.
Suddenly, Jodie saw a group of soldiers closing in on them. She quickly took cover behind a wrecked vehicle, using it as a shield. She saw Lieutenant Jane do the same, her eyes locked on Jodie's, as if they were communicating without speaking. Jodie felt the fear and determination radiating from her lover, and it gave her the strength to keep fighting.
Jane and Jodie fought fiercely, taking out as many soldiers as they could. Jane's gun was blazing as she mowed down enemy after enemy. But suddenly, Jodie noticed a group of soldiers closing in on them from behind. She quickly turned around and fired her RPG, hitting four soldiers and blowing them into pieces. Jodie could feel a sense of triumph as she watched their bodies explode.
But then, she saw it. Lieutenant Jane getting hit by gunfire. A soldier had thrown a grenade towards their cover. Jodie had no time to react. She watched in horror as it landed at Lieutenant Jane's feet and exploded, blowing off her hand as she tried to throw it back, Jodie's heart stopped, and she screamed as she saw Lieutenant Jane being tossed into the air like a rag doll, her body ripped apart by the explosion.
Jodie's mind went blank as she watched her lover fall to the ground, her body a bloody mess. She couldn't believe what had just happened. It felt like time had slowed down, and everything around her had become muted. She ran towards Lieutenant Jane's body, not caring about her own safety as she mourned the loss of her lover.
But then, she heard it. The sounds of boots approaching her position, guns clicking in preparation to fire. As she mourned Jane's body, she was suddenly surrounded by several troops, all pointing their guns at her and shouting. 'Freeze, don't fucking move bitch!' Jodie could feel her heart racing as she realized that she was now all alone and outnumbered. But in that moment, she didn't care. All that mattered was that Lieutenant Jane was gone, taken from her in the most horrific way.
Jodie's grip tightened around her RPG as she knelt on the ground, facing the enemy troops. She knew she didn't stand a chance, but she refused to go down without a fight.
